Principal

Hi, my name is Ashley Causey and I am the proud Principal of Sour Lake Elementary. 

Growing up in this community and attending the very elementary school that I now have the privilege of leading makes serving as principal especially meaningful. It is an honor to give back to the school that helped shape my own educational journey and to support the next generation of Hawks in our community.

After graduating from Hardin Jefferson High School, I attended and earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lamar University. I proudly began my career in education as a second-grade teacher at Sour Lake Elementary.  After a few years in the classroom, I returned to Lamar University to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. After completing 10 years as a teacher at SLE, I transitioned into school leadership as an assistant principal, where I gained valuable experience supporting students, teachers, and families. This year marks my 6th year as Principal of Sour Lake Elementary. 

As principal, I am committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. I believe that strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the community are the foundation of a successful school. Together, we can create a culture of excellence, collaboration, and lifelong learning that allows every student to thrive.

I am proud to serve the community that has always been home and look forward to partnering with our families to make each school year a positive and rewarding experience for every child.
